About the artist
Tahsine Al Hassane is a first generation Canadian multidisciplinary artist. Her work is a push and pull towards critical thought — considering humanity, society, culture, identity, place and our collective states of being. Her formal training in design and communications lends to her aesthetic incorporating digital and analogue collage, use of found lens-based imagery, typography, illustration, abstraction, repetition, wordplay and prose to express the resultant feelings of those thoughts in all their complexities. Though the work is a form of self-described self-portraiture, she intends for the viewer to see themselves as well as our shared humanity, experiences and purpose in the work she creates.
