About the artist
Kaitlin Mason is Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate from NSCAD University. She lives just outside Toronto, where she creates her trompe-l’oeil fabric drawings by using multiple layers of coloured pencil on a wood panel surface. Mason chooses to leave the wood exposed, which adds an additional element of organic detail unique to each drawing. She explores the use of light and shadows within her drawings to transform an otherwise mundane item into a sculptural entity.
